Foundation Week 2018

From 15th October we celebrated the 13th annual Foundation Week of Divine Intervention School. As always, there were a variety of competitions and events to showcase our students’ talents.

On the first day, Vice-Principal Sir Mapuia led the opening function which included special items from both teachers and students. The teachers and staff also enjoyed a special lunch in honour of the occasion.

On the second day, Sir LS-a organised the next stage of the SongSlam solo singing competition. All the contestants did very well and we look forward to the final round.

On the third day, there was an elocution competition organised by Miss Olivia, Miss Manuni and Miss Baby, English teachers from the Junior, Middle and High School sections. The standard was even higher than before and the participants brought the poems to life in an entertaining way.

On the fourth day, there was a quiz competition organised by Miss Chhanpuii and Sir Zothana. The teams did very well and it was an enjoyable end to the week.

A Sunday of Bible Trivia

Sundays at the hostel usually consist of an early morning Bible study with Miss Joanna, a mid-morning service with the Principal, Sunday school with the wardens and an afternoon fellowship with special items led by the hostellers.

Today, all these seemed to unexpectedly converge into a Bible trivia fest! In the morning Bible study, the boys received their prize for collecting the most points for Bible knowledge over the past series of weeks. In Sunday School, prizes were also distributed following their Bible memory exam held last month. In the afternoon fellowship, our warden Sir Jehova led a very good Bible quiz. The ‘Mark’ group were the winners and they will receive their prizes next week.

Green House wins Quiz Competition 2017

The annual DIS Quiz Competition was held on 15th February 2017. It was hosted by Miss Tetei and Sir LSa (Maths teachers) and adjudicated by Miss Manuni (English teacher) and Miss Chhanpuii (Maths teacher). Thanks to the hard work of Sir Hlutea (Physics teacher), the questions were presented in a captivating interactive format which recreated the atmosphere of a television game show.

Two participants each drawn from Class VI and above represented their respective houses in the first two rounds, which included multiple choice questions on a wide range of subjects including geography, history and English grammar. The rest of the students also got a chance to participate throughout the competition. The selection of finalists came down to several tie-breakers, due to the impressively high standard of the participants.

The final four teams for the final round were yellow, green and two red teams, since blue had been eliminated in the earlier rounds. The final results were as follow:

  3. Red house
  4. Yellow house

Congratulations to everyone involved. Let’s hope the competition serves to spark everyone’s minds as they prepare for their final exams next week.
