Graduation 2017

We welcomed back the passed-out students yesterday on Thursday, 12th May, for their graduation ceremony. We are so proud of their success, which included a high proportion of distinction marks than ever before. Prizes and certificates were awarded to all the students, not only for their recent HSLC results but also for their extra-curricular achievements.

The ceremony was hosted by Miss Chhanpuii, Miss Babie and Sir LS-a, with speeches given by the Principal and the highest-scoring student, Saithangliana. It was followed by light refreshments in the Principal’s residence.

Awareness Campaign from Zonuam Police Outpost

On Friday, 25 November, five representatives from Zonuam Police Outpost visited the school to present an awareness campaign about a variety of issues. In an entertaining and interactive presentation, all the studentsĀ learnt about the importance of local police outposts and the correct procedure for reporting an offence by filing an FIR. Particular emphasis was placed on sexual offences with reference to the POCSO Act of 2012. The children were also reminded about road safety and traffic rules. It was a valuable campaign for the school and our local Zonuam community.

Energy Club Inauguration and Awareness Programme

On the afternoon of Friday, 18 November, Divine Intervention School’s new Energy Club was inaugurated at a gathering of students from Class V to Class X. The club is established in accordance with central and state government recommendations, which encourage every school to run such a club so that school students can be involved in auditing and raising awareness of energy consumption in their local area.

The event included speeches by the Principal and Maggie (a Class IX member of the club), and a powerpoint presentation by Miss Chhanpuii who is leading the club at Divine Intervention School. The club consists of twenty enthusiastic members of Class IX who have each received materials with which to conduct their audit. It is hoped that they will make a difference they can be proud of in the future, and that they will be able to pass the baton on to other students in the following years.

Community Service conducted on Friday 11 November

On Friday, 11 November, hundreds of students of Divine Intervention School took a break from their classes in order to serve the local Zonuam community by clearing the cemetery and its surrounding land which is on the other side of the road from the school. They cleared weeds and cleaned up the area so that it now looks very smart and is ready for future use by the YMA. After school hours, the hostellers also worked hard cleaning the school compound.
