Visit from Vanlalsailova

The entire school was very excited last weekend to receive a visit from Vanlalsailova. Following a one-off visit he made earlier in the year, he returned for a four-day crusade programme. He spent two afternoons with the whole school, and on Saturday and Sunday the hostellers were treated to two evenings with him.

He preached engaging and biblical messages, sharing from his entertaining experiences around the world, and challenged the students to live a life that puts Jesus first. He also sang several of his best-loved songs, to the delight of the students and other school workers who came especially to see him perform. Other students and staff also had a chance to perform solos.

Updated Website

This is an acknowledgement that, with great regret, the website and social media accounts of the school have not been well-maintained in this academic session due to various reasons.

As the session resumes after the Monsoon Vacation, we are happy to present the new updated website. The design is intended to be easier to be viewed on mobile devices, since we know that very few people are using PC desktops regularly these days.

Please bear with us as small design amendments and photo updates still need to be made, and the social media accounts also require updating. Keep checking back for the latest information.

Missionary Visit

We were very fortunate to be visited by Mary (pictured, centre), who has been working as a missionary in Kenya since 2012. She formerly worked alongside the Principal while they were missionaries in Birpara, but it was her first time to visit the present school. She gave a very inspiring account of her work in Kenya, sharing many pictures and stories which are sure to have opened the minds of the children.

Career Guidance: Indian Air Force

As part of their recent visit to Mizoram, the Principal’s son-in-law Squadron Leader Jerry Lalchungnunga was able to give some of his time to share with the students about his career and life experience. As one of the very few in Mizoram to follow the path from Engineering studies to a career as an Indian Air Force officer, his experience and advice was very inspiring to listen to.

Class Activities: A Fresh Approach

From this academic session, one of the four units of assessment will be replaced by assessed activities. Instead of four units of exams, there will be only three, but the additional time will be given to creative activity work which will form 25% of the students’ final mark or grade.

To support this new approach, the school was visited by the Principal’s daughter Ruth, who holds a B.Ed and is currently gaining extensive experience in creative educational methods at the Air Force base at Chabua.

Activities were done in all classes and subjects prior to the Monsoon Vacation, and more will follow in the coming months. In the lower section, a dedicated Activities Week was set aside, with every class participating in various projects, culminating in a ‘Mizo Day’ in honour of YMA Day which took place in that week.

Specific details regarding the mode of assessment are yet to be finalised. Please bear with us as we seek the best way to reflect the students’ performance in this aspect.

Crusade with Zorina Pautu

After a wonderful weekend was spent here last year before starting his new ministry in Madhya Pradesh, Zorina Pautu returned to spend another weekend with us from the 18th-21st May.

Bringing different guests to accompany him every day, he blessed us and especially the hostellers with a programme of lively worship and accessible teaching on the theme of faith.

A video from his last visit is on Youtube.

Energy Club 2018-2019

Today the Energy Club was relaunched with a special seminar attended by the middle and high school students. Miss Chhanpuii is in charge again and a group of students has been selected from Class VIII to take part in the activities. As a result of the club’s past activities, we have received a gift of energy efficient bulbs and a ceiling fan for the school. Watch this space to find out what they will be doing this year!

Parents-Teachers Meetings

As the 2018-2019 academic session has got off to a great start, we have been holding series of meetings for parents to provide important information. On 27th April, a meeting was held for the parents of children from KGI to Class IV. On 11th May, which was the first hostel visiting day of the year, another meeting was held for all hostel parents.

A meeting for middle school parents will be held in a few weeks’ time. Due to unforeseen circumstances the meeting on the 18th May has been cancelled.

In these meetings, parents are particularly reminded that online payment is now possible, and card payment is also possible at the school office. We encourage all parents to try to use these cashless methods of payment.

We are celebrating yet another year of outstanding results in the HSLC exams taken by our recently passed-out Class X students. 53 students appeared for the exams and 52 passed. Full results are listed at the website. Our own school results are below:
